Terms of Service

Effective 1 August 2026 Yogabox Tech LLP, Chennai, India [email protected]

The short version. LineGuard enforces workflow rules in your Linear workspace by watching for changes and acting on them — including reverting an issue and posting a comment. It acts after a change lands, not before, so it corrects rather than prevents. You are responsible for the rules you write; we are responsible for running them faithfully and for not doing anything with your data beyond what the Privacy Policy describes.

1. The agreement

These terms are a binding agreement between Yogabox Tech LLP, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India ("LineGuard", "we", "us") and the organisation that installs or uses LineGuard ("you", "customer"). You accept them by installing LineGuard into a Linear workspace, signing in to the dashboard, or paying for a plan — whichever happens first.

If you accept on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it. Individual users of your workspace are bound by these terms through you.

LineGuard is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Linear Orbit, Inc., and "Linear" is used here only to identify the platform LineGuard integrates with.

2. The service

LineGuard is a hosted rule engine for Linear. It receives webhook events from your Linear workspace, evaluates the trigger–condition–action rules you configure, and performs the actions you specified — for example reverting an issue to its previous workflow state and posting an explanatory comment. It also keeps an audit log of every rule that fired.

LineGuard is corrective, not preventive. Linear delivers webhooks after a change has already been committed, so LineGuard cannot block a change from happening. It detects the change and reverses it, usually within seconds. Any use case that requires a change to be impossible in the first place is not something LineGuard can deliver, and you should not rely on it as though it were.

We may change, add to, or remove features over time. If we remove or materially degrade a feature you rely on, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email.

Early access. LineGuard is currently offered as early access. The product works and we run it seriously, but it is young: expect occasional interruptions, rough edges and changes to how features behave. We will not use "early access" as an excuse to disclaim the commitments we make elsewhere in these terms — notice periods, refunds and the deletion timelines in the Privacy Policy all apply now. We will say so on this page when early access ends.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You need an active Linear workspace to use LineGuard. Installation requires a Linear workspace admin, because LineGuard's workspace-wide automation identity can only be authorised by one. After installation, any member of that workspace who signs in gets a dashboard session scoped to that workspace.

You are responsible for keeping your Linear account secure, since access to LineGuard flows from it. You must be at least 18 years old and not barred from using the service under applicable law.

4. What you authorise us to do

By installing LineGuard, you authorise it to act inside your Linear workspace on your behalf, using the OAuth scopes you grant — read, write and comments:create. In practice this means LineGuard may read issue events, change issue fields and workflow states, and post comments, but only as the direct result of a rule you configured.

LineGuard does not request Linear's admin scope. It cannot change your workspace settings, billing, or membership.

Actions LineGuard takes appear in Linear attributed to the LineGuard application, not to a human member of your team.

5. Your responsibilities

  • The rules are yours. You decide what LineGuard enforces. A rule that reverts the wrong issues, reverts too aggressively, or posts an unwanted comment is a configuration outcome, not a defect. Test new rules on a low-stakes team first.
  • Comment templates are published to your workspace. Anything you write in a template will be visible to everyone who can see the issue. Do not put confidential information in one.
  • Tell your team. LineGuard's actions are visible to your workspace members and affect their work. Making sure they know it is running — and that they are informed as required by any applicable employment or data-protection law — is your responsibility, not ours.
  • Your Linear data is yours to protect. LineGuard changes issues in your workspace, and any change it makes is a change to data Linear holds, not data we hold. We are not your backup. Keep whatever record of your Linear workspace your own policies require.
  • Keep your Linear connection healthy. If your workspace revokes LineGuard's OAuth authorisation, rules stop firing. We will tell you if we detect this, but the reconnection is yours to perform.

6. Acceptable use

You may not: use LineGuard to break the law or Linear's own terms; attempt to access another customer's workspace or data; probe, scan or attack the service, or circumvent its authentication, rate limits or plan limits; resell or white-label the service without our written agreement; reverse engineer it except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable where you live; or use it to send unsolicited or abusive messages into a Linear workspace.

Good-faith security research is welcome. Report findings to [email protected]; we will not pursue you for testing that respects other customers' data and does not degrade the service.

7. Plans, fees and trials

  • LineGuard has a perpetually free plan with limits on the number of rules, teams and audit-log retention. Current limits and prices are published on our website and in the dashboard, and form part of these terms.
  • Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you keep access until then.
  • Payments are handled by Dodo Payments as our merchant of record. Dodo is the seller on record for your subscription: they take payment, issue your invoice, and calculate and remit any sales tax, VAT or GST due in your jurisdiction. The price you are shown at checkout reflects the tax treatment for your location, and your card details go to Dodo directly — we never see them. Your purchase is also subject to Dodo's own terms. See our Privacy Policy for what each of us holds.
  • 14-day money back. If you are unhappy with a paid plan, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full, no questions asked. Beyond that window, fees already paid — including for the unused remainder of a billing period after you cancel — are not refunded, except where the law requires it or where we materially failed to deliver the service. In that last case, contact us: we would rather refund you than argue.
  • If we change prices, existing customers get at least 30 days' notice by email before the change applies to their next renewal.
  • If payment fails, we may downgrade you to the free plan after notifying you and allowing a reasonable period to fix it. We will not delete your rules for non-payment.

8. Dependence on Linear

LineGuard exists inside someone else's platform. If Linear changes its API, its webhook payloads, its OAuth model or its rate limits, features may break or disappear with little warning, and we may have to change the service to adapt. If Linear discontinues an interface LineGuard depends on, we may have to discontinue the affected functionality entirely. We will pass on what notice we can, and refund any prepaid fees for functionality we can no longer provide, but we cannot be liable for Linear's decisions.

Your use of Linear is governed by your own agreement with Linear, not by these terms.

9. Availability and support

We aim for high availability and we monitor the service, but the free and standard paid plans do not include a contractual uptime SLA. Any plan that does include an SLA will say so explicitly where that plan is described.

Support is by email at [email protected]. We aim to respond within 2 business days (Indian Standard Time). We may perform maintenance that briefly interrupts the service, and will schedule it outside peak hours where we can.

If LineGuard is unavailable, Linear itself is unaffected — your team keeps working, and rules simply do not fire for the duration. Missed events are not replayed retroactively once service resumes.

Events outside our control. Neither party is liable for a failure to perform caused by something genuinely beyond its reasonable control — an outage at Linear or at our infrastructure providers, a network or power failure, a natural disaster, or a change in law. This does not excuse you from paying for service you have already received, and it does not excuse us from the refund and notice commitments above.

10. Your data and privacy

What we collect, where it is stored, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: your rules and audit log belong to you, issue titles and descriptions are never stored, and we do not sell your data or train models on it.

Where we process personal data on your behalf, we act as your processor and you as controller. If you need a Data Processing Agreement, email [email protected].

11. Intellectual property

We own LineGuard — the software, the website, the name and the marks. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the hosted service during your subscription, and nothing more.

You own your data: your rule definitions, your comment templates and your audit log. You grant us only the licence needed to host, process and display that data in order to run the service for you.

If you send us feedback or a feature suggestion, we may use it freely and without obligation to you.

Using your name and logo. We may identify you as a LineGuard customer — your company name and logo — on our website, in our Linear directory listing, and in similar marketing material. We will use your logo as you publish it, and we will not claim you endorse us or quote you without asking first. You can opt out at any time, before or after the fact, by emailing [email protected]; we will remove you from any material we control at the next reasonable opportunity.

12. Termination

You may stop at any time by cancelling your plan and uninstalling LineGuard from your Linear workspace. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms — including the acceptable-use section — or if we are legally required to. Except for serious abuse or a legal requirement, we will give you notice and a reasonable chance to fix the problem first.

We may also discontinue LineGuard as a whole. If we do, we will give at least 60 days' notice, refund the unused portion of any prepaid fees, and give you a way to export your rules and audit log before shutdown.

On termination, your right to use the service ends and your data is deleted on the schedule in the Privacy Policy. Sections 11, 13, 14, 15 and 17 survive.

13. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, LineGuard is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind — express, implied or statutory — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every rule will fire on every matching event.

In particular, LineGuard is a workflow-hygiene tool, not a control system. It does not guarantee that your process is followed, that your data is complete, or that its audit log is sufficient evidence for any certification, audit or regulatory purpose. Do not use it as the sole safeguard where a missed or mistaken enforcement would cause serious harm.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100. If you are on the free plan, that cap is USD 100.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud, wilful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case the limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted there.

15. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your use of the service in breach of these terms or applicable law, including claims brought by members of your own workspace about actions LineGuard took because of rules you configured.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product and the law change. The effective date at the top reflects the current version. For material changes we will give at least 30 days' notice by email to workspace admins. Continuing to use LineGuard after a change takes effect means you accept the new terms; if you do not, cancel before then and we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid fees.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and both parties submit to that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that guarantees you the protection of your local law or courts, nothing here removes that protection.

Before filing anything, please email us. Nearly everything is faster to fix that way.

If any provision of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor in a merger or acquisition of substantially all our assets.

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the plan limits published on our website, are the entire agreement between us and supersede any prior discussion.
